The Artist

Karen Hull is a fulltime artist / illustrator, an exhibiting member of the Australian Society of Miniature Art (NSW) and is also a member of Illustrators Australia. For many years a career in nursing, and raising a family of four wonderful boys with husband Stephen took up much of her time and energy, but with her family now older, she has been able to follow her passion for art and realise her dream to work at art on a fulltime basis.
In her relatively short artistic career, Karen has already won several awards including Best in Show and Best Watercolour at the 2007 Australian Society of Miniature Art (NSW) National Awards Exhibition and Best Oil Painting at the 2008 ASMA National Awards Exhibition. She loves to work in a variety of mediums, including watercolours on Fredrix Watercolour Canvas and watercolours on Rtistx Board; pastels on velour paper; and coloured pencils and ink on drafting film. Her favourite subjects are people and animals and she enjoys the challenge of capturing the true essence of her subjects within her artwork.
Karen's work is extremely versatile, and she produces a range of styles from fine art, to colourful illustrations that suit a myriad of needs, to commissioned portraits of people and animals. Whilst much of her artwork is miniature, with a focus on realism and fine detail, she also works in larger formats and is always happy to accommodate her client's individual needs. Karen always endeavours to produce artwork that is of the highest standard, is very conscious of meeting deadlines, and aims to keep her prices reasonable. Her priority is always the customer's satisfaction.
Karen also enjoys creating and selling ACEO's (Artist Cards, Editions and Originals) which are sold in several on-line stores, including ebay and etsy. These art cards are in high demand, and usually sell within days of being listed. The ACEO cards are generally done in coloured pencil and ink on drafting film, and are then backed onto white polypropylene card. She also does ACEO sized commissioned pet portraits which are proving extremely popular.
